Vote for an Odell Twitter Brew Design

Tenfold designed "J" and was asked by the folks at Odell to promote our design. If you like our work, we'd love to have your vote. Odell Brewing, a craft brewer based in Fort Collins, created and named this brew from the suggestions of their Twitter followers. Blackbird is a dark German-style Schwarzbier. Voting ends tomorrow 5/29/09 at 7 a.m. mountain time.

Odell Uses Twitter to Craft New Brew

Odell Brewing Company in Fort Collins is using Twitter to craft its first ever TwitterBrew. They have used the social media venue to allow followers to select the brew, name it, and then enter the tap handle design contest. “There are so many people who are interested in brewing but don’t really have the means to do it,” says Jeff Doyle of Odell. “The Twitter Brew will give them the chance to get involved with the whole process.”

The brew selected by followers is a schwarzbier with dark roasted malts and dry hop aroma. The brew was aptly named Blackbird (Get it? Twitter?). 10 a.m. on May 26th is the deadline for tap handle designs. Twitter brewers can try their beer at the brewery’s Tap Room during the tapping party on May 30, 2009.

Above is Tenfold's entry into the tap handle design contest. It was intimidating to design for Odell—their packaging is already beautiful. We chose to illustrate a red wing blackbird because they are native to Colorado and the touch of red is so iconic. We added the "tweet" in the beak to tie in with the process of using Twitter to develop the brew.

Shepard Fairey Giro D'Italia Bike

Shepard Fairey has also created a design for Lance's Trek Madrone. According to the designer's web site, the bike and the helmet are intended to raise awareness for the Lance Armstrong Stages art exhibitions debuting this summer.
