As the year is coming to a close, it's fun to look back on some of the rejected designs we've done this year. This summer we entered a contest to design the 4th Street District logo for the Downtown Merchants Association, here in Loveland. Tenfold won the contest (see the final design here), but here are some of the rejected logo designs and banner applications.

Christmas is convenient time for adults to reconnect with our childhood, a time when our existence revolved around injection molded plastic (maybe it still does if your hoping for an iPhone this year). I remember one particular Christmas when I was given Voltron, the Defender of the Universe. To me, Voltron represented power, beauty, and all that was good. Later, I found out that Voltron actually represented lead-based paint. The toy was recalled by the toy's manufacturer and I gave up a little piece of my childhood. Okay, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic...
The painting of Voltron above was done by Mark Burden, a fellow child of the 80's. Mark creates epic portraits of the action figures he played with as a child. As an adult these toys are nostalgic, but no longer hold the imagination that they did as a child. By recreating the talismans of his youth, Mark attempts to renew his faded sense of wonder and innocence.
